Weight Loss Shakes?

I am trying to GAIN muscle weight and we have a lot of these weight loss shakes sitting around. I noticed they have a decent amount of protien and a lot vitamins. Can i keep eating my regular amount of food and add these to my diet for some extra calories and gain weight, or is there a chemical in them that actually makes your body lose weight? Basically, are they meal replacements or actual weight burners?
thanks

From what i know about shakes there isnt a chemical in it that will make you lose weight. Its just a balanced meal that helps you control your portions. If you are going to drink them along with your current eating style it will help you gain muscle but you have to work out or it will turn to FAT. and thats not what you want….Hope that helps

    Hi,
You pose a two part question. First – most of these types of shakes are made of poor quality proteins and whey. So if you want to gain weight. Get a good quality recovery meal drink. I would go to http://www.defensenutrition.com/ and get theres.
    1. always eat 30 grams of good quality whey protein immediate after workouts with some 20 grams of easily digestible carbs such as a banana.
    2. 1 hour after work out hit the recovery meal protein again
    3. 1 hour after that do it again.
    second part
are they meal replacements? I would not consider them replacements. To gain muscle you must consume more calories. So they are a supplement.
