Do Tattoos Change With Weight Loss?
I want a tattoo on some places on my body like back and sides, and I am overweight. I just want to know if tattoos get all messed up if people lost their weight. I eventually want to lose weight, but I don’t want to regret getting that tattoo before losing weight if it gets messed up….I DO NOT want opinions. I need facts and observations.
It depends on where the tattoo is, it’s size, how much you lose compared to your body mass, the speed of the change and if you build muscle during the weight (fat) loss.
For example, my work in my icon hasn’t changed as far as I or others can tell. I went from 185 to 165 in about the last year, so not very fast. I have been more regular in the gym and put on some muscle mass as well, so I may have lost 30 lbs of fat tissue… or more. For size comparison, I am 5′ 10″ – not exactly a towering giant here.
The back in general, at least upper, seems to fare well with changes from both weight and age. The sides may not do as well, but perhaps one option is to get the backwork, go on whatever regimen you like, and get the sides work as a gift to yourself for meeting your goals. The backwork can even act as a reminder of what you’ve promised yourself.
Best of luck to you.
It really depends on how much weight you want to lose, how you’re going to lose it, and where the tattoo is. My best friend lost 100 pounds and her tattoo looked horrible afterwards, she had to get it covered up because she lost the weight really fast (bariatric surgery) and it was on her side. The tattoo was saggy and looked “squished” horizontally. Another friend lost 30 pounds over the span of a year though and her tattoos look the same to me (ankle, shoulder, lower back).
YES! The tattoo is on your skin and if you gain weight doesn’t your skin stretch? And if you loose weight doesn’t your skin get all saggy!
You should lose whatever weight that you want to lose first then get whatever tattoos that you want to get. Just make sure that you stay the way you want to be. Because your body is growing still unless your like 30… but other than that don’t get anything big that will stretch out in time, wait until you are older, that’s what I have to do.
if the skin is streched when you get the tattoo and then loosened after weight loss, then yes it will mess up the design of the tat.
Actually, the tattoo will look better if you lose weight. When you lose the weight your skin will eventually tighten up and the design with become tighter with it, it wont fade or discolor or anything stupid like that. It will however do that if you gain ‘alot’ more weight, but a few pounds wont hurt it.
hell no it dose not
depends on where the tat is but if u loose the weight at a slow enough and healthy way it will decrees the change if i was u i would go to a tattoo artist and ask them what they think tell them how much weight u are going to loose and if u lift weights thing wont sag all up
i dont think so…..
